We are located north of Lake Mills, Wisconsin, and our home and business overlooks what is known locally as the Faville Prairie. Lying along the Crawfish River, Faville Prairie is one of the largest low prairie remnants in Wisconsin. Long revered by ecologists such as Aldo Leopold who fought for its preservation, the prairie is a remnant of the once extensive Crawfish Prairie that covered nearly 2500 acres. The prairie is situated on a small ridge in the center of the site, while areas to the east are slightly lower and contain sedge meadow and shrub carr communities.
The word tradition comes from the Latin traditionem, acc. of traditio which means "a giving up, delivering up, surrendering" We sometimes find however, that by "giving up" we can occasionally receive more, not less. Taking the road less traveled, we discover a sense of satisfaction that is too often missing in todays fast paced world. By doing things for ourselves, working harder, and not always following the easy path, we often find we are happier and more fulfilled at the end of the journey.

I have been a bowhunter for most of my adult life, and after rediscovering traditional archery have found my true passion in life. After 31 years in the banking business, I started Prairie Traditions as a way to work with what I love.
